The Watershed
What's a watershed? It is the land area that catches and drains rainfall or snowmelt into a stream, river, or lake. A watershed is the place where we live. It is an interconnected system made up of land, water, people, plants and animals. Sources of pollution may be in your immediate neighborhood or miles away.
The Laurel Run Watershed encompasses about 15 square miles from the Halleck area in the north to Victoria in the southeast. The watershed headwaters are near Halleck Road in Monongalia County off US 119 south of Morgantown. Meandering about 7 miles trhough forests and pastureland, the stream empties into Three Fork Creek at Victoria in Preston County. Three Fork is a tributary of the Tygart.
